  1. This would be a good idea for most people. For one thing the people would make more money and some people like my self is tired of sitting at home anyway.

  2. I think it would be a bad idea. Welfare and unemployment benefits can only last for so long. When they run out, and a good amount of jobs are available, those people should find a job.

  3. Government welfare and unemployment benefits are temporary programs to support individuals experiencing financial issues. I think the government should continue with these programs, but also create new incentives to get US citizens back to work within our communities. Catherine Darring-Collins

  5. No, I don't think that it is a good idea to get rid of many welfare programs and unemployment compensation. The reason for my opinion is because some people who are now unemployed probably had a good job in which their wages were higher than minimum wage.

  6. I don't believe that getting rid of these programs all together is a good idea. I do believe however, that there should be other ways to get people back working.

  7. While these systems are harshly abused, they have been effective in aiding citizens in times of true need. I disagree with the proposal to eliminate them.

  8. I think it would be for capable workers, this would promote a work ethic and make the welfare receives feel some since in pride for earning their money. I also believe it would establish work history and experience for future jobs.

  9. The welfare program is great if it was not so abused. One alternative would be to pay someone minium wage but at the same time teach them a trade. That way they can go on to be productive citizens and have a skill they can use to better themselves. This in return could also teach self-esteem.

  10. The money they spend in welfare, (often misused) government should use it to build technical school,
6 month- hands-on training, Create public jobs, Motivate employers by covering some of hiring or insurance expenses that a new unemployed person or welfare beneficiary is hired.
Welfare should be for real emergencies, for retired people, people with disability, financial hardship due to sickness, lost of job, or death in the family.

  11. Yes people on Welfare need to find a job, but what happens to the people who aren't lazy and are just unemployed and actually looking for jobs. Most people on welfare aren't looking for jobs. They will just take what the government is willing to give them and not willing to work for it.
